Simon Darby

I am a partner in Christchurch-based Mode Partners, a creative digital agency. I began my career as a cartoonist on The Christchurch Star before moving to Australia and into advertising as an art director. As the Internet developed, I trained myself in web design, digital illustration and 3D animation. From there I took a leading role with Philips in Asia developing its new media arm, in association with its PolyGram division. My work as Senior Regional Producer in China, Japan, and Korea opened up connections to developers and designers in North America, and eventually working in Vancouver directing new media product development. Skills developed in producing content rich Internet sites (comedy, music, finance, and auctions) have been widely applied to my work in creative digital. Right now, I am pushing further into rich Internet application (RIA's) for advertising, with a special focus on Flash and Flex platforms as the background to rich visual experiences. Above all I love to draw. It's the core of my creative expression.
