The Bacon Station

The Bacon Station was founded by Ewan Anderson in 1995 and he sold in Feb 2007 to Richard & Sharlene Spellman.

Richard & Sharlene are a couple that works well together with Richard taking care of processing and Sharlene out on the road doing sales and running of the shop in Fitzroy.Come see the Girls in Fitzroy only Butchers run by only woman.

Since taking over in Feb 2007, Richard & Sharlene have got so busy that they have had to take on another 2 staff members Renee and Linda to help in the shop in Fitzroy.Richard is in processing to keep up with the demand.

Due to the demand of retail Sharlene and Richard are opening another premise for retail in Fitzroy which will cater for everyones needs close to town. we hope to be up and running in early to mid july. Sharlene and Renee and Linda will be in the shop most of the time leaving Richard out in processing at Meetings of the water so you are still welcome to go there if you choose as Richard will be still doing retail and wholesale from there.

At The Bacon Station we process an old style traditional bacon which when finished is very dry. For this process it takes 3 to 4 weeks from start to finish. Ham is processed in a similiar way.

At The bacon Station we do everything by hand apart from the mixing of the meats etc so no uniform sizes they all varier so thats why we are so different to other butcherys.

We are now into the FREE RANGE pork all soruced here in New Plymouth

We do a whole range of gluten free sausages, also dried, Kranskys, Bier Sticks, Chriorizos, Salami.

We also process specialty sausages for restaurants and cafes.

We cater for the English with Black Pudding, White Pudding,Gammon Steaks, Green Bacon, Pork Sausages and now Pork Pies.

We also cater for the South Africans with boerewors, Biltong
