“The 3rd Dimension Limited” is a new company that for the first time in New Zealand will use advanced high accuracy and portable three dimensional laser scanning equipment. This will allow companies that are already using 3D CAD modeling to completely close off the 2D aspects of design and verification by allowing them to directly compare their off tool samples to the original CAD models.

This laser scanning system will also for the first time in New Zealand provide quick and accurate reverse engineering facilities.

“The 3rd Dimension Limited” has also obtained a concepting machine, know as a 3D Printer to provide concepting and prototyping services to the region and will be promoting this service to non traditional industries.

“The 3rd Dimension Limited” has an arrangement to be the South Island sales and support agent for Product Development Solutions (PDSOL) which has the exclusive reseller rights for the top Mechanical design software in the world called ProEngineer.

Why do we try and visualize a new product or design by looking at a drawing when we can look at an actual physical model? Why do we design a part in 2D or 3D then check the part against a 2D drawing?
