Te Huia log Home Designs are the culmination of our search. Inspired by and designed here at Te Huia, they reflect our own personal love of natural wood, and its perfection as a sustainable building material well suited to the physical, historical and cultural surrounds of coastal Waitakere, West Auckland, New Zealand.
New Zealand is our home and its said that all roads lead home. Te Huia 'Twin Peaks' log home is a fusion of Pacific Island, Asian, Nth American, Nordic and successful eco sustainable experience. We think of it as South Pacific fusion and it suits our ethos. That ethos is best explained by the Hanover Principals. Interestingly, New Zealand is the last place on earth to have been colonized by humans. We reckon its given us Kiwis an opportunity to present a fresh, new, unique interpretation of things to the world.
30-60 year old hand crafted, scribe-fit, whole Douglas Fir logs grown in sustainable renewable South Island of New Zealand forests, form the basis and defining structural elements of our custom built homes.
The ‘embodied energy’ or amount of energy used to manufacture and transport Te Huia log homes is very low. Thermal mass, insulation R-values, life-cycle costs are all great. These eco friendly characteristics mean your log home not only looks spectacular, it will feel warm and friendly to live in, and naturally as a consequence, be one of your greatest personal investments.
Sustainable forestry, crafted by hand by Kiwi master log builders, founded on thousands of years of log building experience. You can tick all the boxes.
