Sutherland Nursery provide a delicious range of heritage and disease resistant food plants for easy care home growing. We stock many interesting heritage fruit trees that are diverse in both flavour and uses. Our goal is to help you to enjoy the satisfaction of growing healthy and abundant food at home.
All of our plants are suited to growing in temperate New Zealand, and are known to do well in the south of the South Island; we can make recommendations for specific microclimates in this area.
We are proud to supply high quality organic plants (our new site is in transition to full certification).
We are a mail order nursery, we send out our plants bare rooted in July and August, these need to be promptly planted or potted.

Sutherland Nursery is a New Zealand business that aims to provide an exciting range of plants that produce delicious food and are easy to care for. We promote perennial food plants to grow at home because once established they produce abundantly year after year with little maintenance. We believe that growing some of our own food at home also contributes to a smart sustainable future by reducing energy used, pollution created and land used for food production. While also saving on food bills. Food gardening is also fun and creative!
