Safe Sex Games Limited

In August 1992, two university students developed a unique card game called Safe Sex. Trade Marks were registered in New Zealand and Australia and their initial production run was sold through retailers in New Zealand.

By the late 1990’s the game had all but disappeared from store shelves with the original owners moving on to other challenges. So Safe Sex Games Limited (SSG) was formed with the objective of procuring all Intellectual Property and Rights for Safe Sex from the original inventors.

SSG is a privately owned New Zealand company incorporated in September 2002 at the time of procuring the Safe Sex Intellectual Property.

The next two years were spent modernising and repackaging the game. Following market evaluation by retailers and players, the current version of the game was re-introduced to the New Zealand market in October 2004.

Since then, ‘Safe Sex’ – The Card Game, has been successfully sold in retail outlets throughout New Zealand and continues with strong sales support online (www.trademe.co.nz).

The new game is suited for our time – the repackaging and messaging has been a hit with customers, and the growth of the internet has allowed the game to experience a renaissance, with the game featuring regularly in top ten lists on internet search engines.
