What makes us Made From New Zealand?
River Valley is a tourism company and destination first started by Brian and Robin Sage in 1982 on the back of the family farm, east of Taihape. The Lodge now has thousands of people through the door a year, 90% of whom come from overseas.
The philosophy around River Valley is to offer a genuine and authentic experience, an experience that is based very much on who we are - 3 generations of river guides - where we are - in the middle of nowhere - and what we do do - provide quality outdoor adventure and hospitality.
We base our business on the French concept of terroir, a celebration of the things that make us unique - family, location, what we do, how we do it. There is no equivalent word in English, though turangawaewae may be close in Maori.
