Paul migrated to Nelson from England with his family in 1959.
They set up Waimea Pottery in 1964 and Paul was trained in handcraft production pottery 1973 as part of an apprenticeship scheme.
In the hey days of the 70s
Paul ended up managing & running the workshop with about 15 potters and assistants. Since then Paul's work has evolved moving away from domestic ware and more into contemporary and often abstract sculptural ceramics.
Commissions are welcome
and the idea at end of it extends Paul's imagination and helps his clients see more firmly what they want. Paul enjoys communication and views different perspective.
"It forces you to look very differently at your own work which is healthy".
