Sisters Pip and Jacqui welcome you to our lovely Jackson Street store Oyster in the historical harbour-side town of Petone.

Oyster opened in September of 2007 and has a distinct pacific look and relaxed feel. We’re extremely proud to stock over 80% New Zealand made 'stuff' from talented designers all over this country of ours. We also stock several very special imported ranges which we research to ensure ethical trading practices have taken place. Our upstairs art gallery exhibits affordable art by a different emerging NZ artist every 6 weeks.

If it's not made in New Zealand, we want to know where it came from, who made it and if they were paid and treated fairly. We want our customers to be comfortable about the choices they make, so alongside our proudly NZ made stuff sit our fair and ethically traded imported wares.

We are passionate in our belief that people involved in the manufacture of goods must be protected. Haitian garden wall art made from recycled oil drums, Freeset bags empowering women in India, stunning recycled glass tableware from Spain and purse sets made by Aboriginal artists in the outback of Australia ... at Oyster we offer you a wonderful mix of beautiful things and enable you to shop with a conscience.
