mainly music New Zealand Trust
Started in 1990, mainly music is a network of fun music groups for parents or primary care givers to enjoy together with their young child. Throughout the session, children develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills as well as socialize with others. Each mainly music is associated with and is run by volunteers from a local church. These days there are 700 worldwide, with around 410 in New Zealand. Children are introduced to music, creativity and more, plus families given a chance to think about the God-part of life. Amazing to think that all this can be achieved in a loving, shared family environment

What makes us Made From New Zealand?
This organisation started in Hillsborough, Auckland. We now offer the concept to Christian churches throughout the world - as well as being throughout New Zealand, we're throughout Australia, and in a smaller way, in England, USA, Scotland, South Africa, Ireland, and Canada AND GROWING. The international organisation is domiciled in New Zealand. While I'm a Kiwi and heading up the organisation, I now live in Australia and have responsibilities to not only grow the organisation here, but also to the world. In conjunction with the NZ Board of Directors, I'm responsible to ensure NZ keeps ticking along. Because of the size of the New Zealand scene, this allows us to trial new initiatives that can be rolled out in Australia and then, as we get bigger, in other parts of the world.
The music predominantly used in the sessions comes from Kiwi children's artists who have worked with us for nearly 20 years. So Kiwi artist music is going worldwide. In addition, we have produced three original songs albums [mainly music original songs volume 1 and volume 2 as well as a mix of traditional and original songs on mainly music Christmas songs]. All this music is being sold worldwide.
Right now, we're pioneering new ways to get mainly music appreciated in more than just 'middle class' New Zealand. There are challenges associated with that - one of which is that we can't do this with a volunteer team. This means we seek funding to keep this initiative ticking along so that we have the resources and staff to make it all happen.
We're biggest in NZ and Australia; but our long term focus is global.
