Kumfs Shoes
Kumfs is a New Zealand company that’s been making fabulously comfortable fashion footwear for over 60 years. It all started in 1933 when brothers-in-law Mervyn Adams & David Robertson went into partnership as podiatrists. They were concerned that their clients couldn’t get shoes that they believed to be orthopaedically good enough. So they set out to study 10,000 women’s feet and create unique lasts (shoe moulds) based on anatomical need. The range of shoes they developed was instantly successful, business grew and New Zealand’s leading footwear manufacturer was born.
Some of the secrets to Kumfs success have been the conviction for using orthopaedic knowledge to ensure that shoes are crafted to fuse design with optimum comfort and fit. All Kumfs stores offer a professional fitting service and a 30 Day No Risk Wear Test which means that customers are able to bring their shoes back within 30 days and Kumfs will fix the problem, exchange the footwear or refund the customer.
The combination of quality materials and construction, fashionable design, comfort technology and orthotic-friendly footwear developments have made Kumfs arguably the most recommended womens fashion footwear brand by foot professionals in both Australia and New Zealand.
Globally, the company currently sells womens shoes to nearly 700 retailers worldwide and has 43 company owned and franchised stores in Australia, New Zealand, United States and Hong Kong. Internationally, the popular range of fashionable footwear has earned a well-deserved reputation for being synonymous with comfort, style and quality.

What makes us Made From New Zealand?
Kumfs is a family-owned company founded in the 1933 by New Zealand podiatrists and brothers-in-law, Mervyn Adams and David Robertson. They identified that many foot problems in women were due to wearing European shoes that were designed for narrow feet.
On that basis, they set out to study 10,000 women’s feet and create unique lasts (shoe moulds) based on anatomical need. They went on to make comfortable, casual shoes for women, which were instantly successful.
Since then, the range has grown to now encompass orthotic-capable footwear as well as foot-friendly fashionable shoes for the modern woman. Today, Kumfs is run by Andrew Robertson, the grandson of founder David Robertson. All development, manufacturing, wholesaling and retail operations of Kumfs are run and managed from the head office in Auckland.
Kumfs shoes are crafted to fuse design with optimum comfort and fit. Globally, Kumfs leads the way in orthotic-friendly fashion shoes. Hence it is arguably the most recommended fashion footwear brand by foot professionals in both Australia and New Zealand.
With a belief in constant innovation and development, Kumfs has entered a partnership with AUT to develop a world-leading design prototype that will significantly enhance the comfort women experience when they purchase Kumfs footwear.
