Gorgi is a New Zealand owned and operated company with a small dedicated team of individuals based in central Auckland. The Gorgi Brand is the inspiration of founder Kirstin Bailey who's emergence into the homewares industry began with the launch of the popular Kidsroom Brand in 2003.

Kirstin's passion for homewares began when she embarked on what was to be an impossible search for contemporary products for her own son's room - she wanted a look that had personality yet did not speak nursery rhymes and cartoon characters - hence the birth of Kidsroom...'children's bedrooms for parents'. In six short years Kidsroom has grown to be the one of the leading designer children's homewares brands in New Zealand. Kirstin is proud of Kidsroom's dedicated customer following, 'I think the key to why our product continues to sell well through retailers and online is it's point of difference, we provide a high quality product that is robust and lives up to the rigors of childhood, it offers parents longevity in product lifespan and also aesthetic appeal, - this is not an easy find these days'.

In 2007 Kirstin felt the Kidsroom Brand lacked grown up substance 'we needed to build on the success of Kidsroom - but for grown ups. Our customers loved our Kidsroom collections, they enjoyed the brand's simplicity and the fact that it transgressed seasonal fashion changes - they too however wanted designs that lasted, an inspired interior design look with simple changeout options ' this was the emergence of an idea that is now the Gorgi Brand.

Gorgi has released several grown-up collections since its inception in 2007, the brand has worked hard in challenging times, 'there has been a significant skill shortage as industry specialists continue to move offshore, we are as committed as we ever have been to work as long as we can to support what we have here, I personally know that I can walk into our workrooms at any point in time, I know the working conditions, I know that adults are earning real money for real work and I know that quality is at the forefront of operations - these are the important values and attributes that make the Gorgi Brand what it is today'.
