Ecomist, the original garage inventor’s success story.

Ecomist has been winning converts and killing insects since 1992 when the first commercially available Ecomist dispenser went on sale but the Ecomist story goes back further than that. The concept of an automatic dispenser for killing insects was the brainchild of a backyard inventor who saw a need, tinkered around and eventually developed a prototype in the late 1980’s.

Two years after the first dispenser was released on the New Zealand market in 1992 the product was also introduced to Australia. Ecomist was an instant success in both countries and in 1997 won the coveted Aerosol Industry Awards ‘Best New Product in Aerosol.

The Ecomist system was a deceptively simple concept, utilise an automatic dispenser to deliver a measured quantity of product at regular intervals. Eventually programmable dispensers that allowed the customer to decide just how often the dispenser kicked in to action were developed and the growing success of the Ecomist Dispenser System brought the product to the attention of Damar Industry who bought the company in Feb 2005.

In recent years the Ecomist range has grown beyond its core offering of insect control to include products for odour control, fragrancing and aromatherapy applications. Now our customers can effectively and easily neutralize offensive odours rather than just cover them up. Or use the exciting Aroma Fresh range to enhance the mood of their home, office, retail or commercial environment with a continuous level of fragrance. Plus there’s the very special Mood Makers collection that draws on ancient aromatherapy texts for fragrances especially formulated to create specific moods. And there’s plenty of choice for creating the particular ambiance that you’re looking for, we have over 100 different fragrance options to choose from!

However, despite the growing Ecomist range and expansion into markets as diverse as Korea, South Africa, the Phillipines and Noumea one thing has remained the same- distribution through local people who know their customers. Our team work with the community, visiting homes and businesses to provide advice about which Ecomist product will be exactly the right solution for any situation. It all happens from our door to you door, you can’t buy Ecomist at the shops. Which means that obtaining refills of Ecomist products is as easy as picking up the phone, our customers just tell us what they need and we deliver their order straight out to them.
