Darren's Design have designed a range of beautifully hand crafted children's furniture inspired by the magic of childhood.

DARREN'S DESIGNS is a friendly family run business based in the North of New Zealand with over 15 years knowledge and experience.
All the items are of solid pine wood and hand built to the highest standards. The timber is from renewable sources no rainforest timber is used in any of the products, maybe something your children will thank you for in the future!!

The wording on most items can be changed and/or added to. The helpful staff at DARREN'S DESIGNS would be delighted to discuss these options, to help you create a unique bedroom that makes your child feel extra special. This service is free with the single beds, we may make a small charge for wording changes on other items. For that extra special touch your child's name can be added to the footboard or to the headboard.

What makes us Made From New Zealand?

I was always destined to become a furniture maker. I began making furniture in 1985. My original way of thinking led to the prduction of unique pieces of furniture. I have worked on renovating antique furniture, Provincial Irish furniture is very unusual and this style still shows through in some of today's furniture. I gained a reputation for high quality work in the field of county style furniture, which was very popular at the time. Through out my career I have worked in most forms of woodwork, carving, turning, marquetry, hardwood, softwood, chair making.

My furniture became well known for it's intricate hand carvings. I was also a keen cartoonist and the link between cartoons and furniture currently produced and originally influence by my daughter Kayla who inspired me to design a range of children's furniture to suit her interests. It all happened very quickly Kayla was a fairy from these ideas a range quickly developed. My daughter was a great help to me suggesting lots of good ideas that were incorported into the designs. Demand of the beds was such that further items were developed as a result of the increasing success of the children's range a decision was made to work entirely in children's furniture.

What had began as an indulgence for the important child in my life has led to a very important part of my business.
