Monitoring is a very important part of pest control, and can be an interesting test to check out the insects/animals in your backyard. The presence of native species often indicates a healthy environment without harmful pests that compete for food and attack native young. The presence of pests would indicate the need to start controlling the pests, or that a previous pest control project has not been entirely effective.
