Our story began in 1986 when Warwick Purdie and John Chatterley recognised the need to provide visitors with another option... a more affordable rental car backed by the guarantees of a reliable rental car company. Warwick and John purchased two secondhand Toyota Starlet cars, named their business Ace Tourist Rentals (NZ) Ltd and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today Ace Tourist Rentals (NZ) Ltd is the largest privately owned rental car company in New Zealand. You’ll still find Toyota's among their fleet of 1700...along with many other vehicle categories.

It’s no longer just the tourist market Ace have got covered - the country’s largest movie/television production company, Americas Cup Teams, Price Waterhouse and many other high profile businesses are now driving Ace rental vehicles.

We have over 60 full time and some part time staff with branches in Auckland, Auckland Airport, Wellington, Picton, Christchurch, Queenstown and now Brisbane, Australia with more to follow.
