Find A Band

Find A Band is a true "something out of nothing" company - simply the tangible result of a great idea put into action.

I started the business in February 2008 after sitting on the idea for a few years as I worked as a musician throughout Dunedin and Queenstown, and then Auckland. People were constantly telling me at my performances that it was impossible to find a good band for their wedding or event. I checked what was available on the net and although there were a handful of offerings, they all seemed to be cumbersome to use, and uninterested in the users' experience.

I drafted up a new site, one which would feel familiar and intuitive from the very first time the user experienced it. I kept adding to this as new possibilities occurred to me.

After being discouraged by enormous quotes from large commercial web design companies (upwards of $50,000), I found someone (Mark Grimes at tenvor.co.nz) who created the site I wanted, with all of the extras, for a fraction of the quotes I had previously received.

Many adjustments were made between the time I submitted the initial guidelines to my web designer and the present time - tiny tweaks to make things better for the talent on the site and for my clients.

The site was launched in February 2008, and continues to be tweaked to make it just that much better. We have rapidly moved up the ranks in Google and through word of mouth and google advertising, the business continues to pick up momentum.

In 2009 I hope to expand the operation to include a staff of 5 - 3 salespeople, an accounts person and a manager.
